The Problem & Objective
For many students, mathematics is a source of fear due to fast-paced teaching, an over-reliance on formulas, and a lack of foundational understanding. Students with diverse learning needs often struggle when traditional platforms focus heavily on completion rates rather than comprehension. The goal of FlowMath is to provide a structured, visually supportive, and calm learning experience that guides students step-by-step, building their confidence along the way.
Key Features & Solution
FlowMath introduces a foundation-first learning path where concepts are visually explained before abstract symbols are introduced. Rather than presenting harsh "right or wrong" grading, the platform offers an adaptive quiz flow that provides guided feedback, helping students understand the "why" behind their answers.
The inclusive interface is designed with a clear visual hierarchy, friendly language, and reduced cognitive load to minimize pressure. Students can track their progress through a supportive dashboard that focuses on consistency and effort over high-stakes competition, ensuring they feel guided rather than judged.
Tech Stack & Key Decisions
The platform is developed using Next.js and TypeScript, styled with Tailwind CSS and Shadcn UI to maintain a calm, highly readable interface. Animations via Framer Motion are kept subtle to aid understanding without causing distraction. The backend and data management are handled by Supabase and PostgreSQL, allowing for a scalable architecture that separates learning content from UI components to accommodate future growth and customized learning paths.
